Velma Spangler, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1992 at the Hiawatha Hospital. She was a school teacher at Willis and later taught at Sabetha where she retired in 1967.
She was born Nov. 28, 1908 at Reserve, Kan., the daughter of Wallace and Zora Herman Chaffee.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ at Fairview. She had lived in southwest Fairview since 1936, moving to Hiawatha in 1967.
She married Lloyd Spangler June 4, 1936 at her parents' home northwest of Morrill, Kan. He died in 1967.
Survivors include four sons, John Spangler, Everest, Kan., Lee Spangler, Phoenix, Ariz., Wayne Spangler, Rose Hill, Kan., and David Spangler, Hollister, Mo.; one sister Vada Mae Hopper, Hiawatha, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1992 at 10 a.m. at the Brown County Mortuary. Burial will be in the Isley Cemetery north of Fairview. Friends and family will meet Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Brown County Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the mortuary.
