She was born June 25, 1912, in Falls City, Neb., to Corwin Wallace and Zora Edna Herman Chaffee. She graduated from Hiawatha High School and spent most of her life in Hiawatha. She had worked at Oak Ridge nursing home in Hiawatha several years.
She and Leslie Harold Hopper were married in Hiawatha. He died July 29, 1968. A son, Robert Hopper, died in 1993. Two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter survive.
Mrs. Hopper will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at Framke Casselman Meek Funeral Home in Hiawatha where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
