Aged 92 at the time of his death. He was a nautical writer and the publisher of the Newburyport Herald of Massachusetts. A biography found online gives his middle name as March and says he was born June 20, 1770 and that his name is famous to seaman. Published numerous nautical books, charts, etc. In 1817 he wrote a book entitled "Strangers Guide to New York City." He lived on State Street in Ossining for about forty years.
