DEATH OF MRS. F. W. CHAFFEE
END CAME LAST EVENING AT THE HOME OF HER SON DR. J.B. CHAFFEE

She Was One of the Best Known Residents of Carthage - Private Funeral at 3:00 O'Clock Tomorrow

Mrs. F. W. Chaffee died of pneumonia quite suddenly and unexpectedly last evening about 6:30 o'clock at the residence of her son Dr. J. B. Chaffee of 1000 Clinton street.
Mrs. Chaffee has not enjoyed robust health since the death of Mr. Chaffee, some five years ago. Ever since the death of her only sister, Miss Sadie Kellogg, last May, she has failed rapidly. While the general state of her health was not good, the end was not expected so soon, and came as a great shock to her relatives and friends.
Margaret Campbell Kellogg, was born in the city of Philadelphia. She moved with her parents to Des Moines, Iowa in an early day, where she later met and married Francis W. Chaffee in 1856. In 1870 the family moved to Carthage where they resided in the property on Sixth street opposite the Elks' Club house.
Besides being one of the oldest residents, the deceased was one of the most prominent. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and until poor health forbid it, was one of the most faithful workers in the congregation. She had a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
The deceased leaves two sons, Dr. J. B. Chaffee and F. M. Chaffee, both of this city and two grandchildren; J. B. Chaffee, jr., of this city and Mrs. J. B. Lee of California.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence of Dr. Chaffee on Clinton street. The services will be in charge of Rev. Huston Taylor. The funeral will be private.(bio by NJBrewer)
