The immediate cause of her death was a surgical operation last Sunday by a Kansas City surgeon for a tumor in her side. for a year or more she has been in poor health and her condition became so alarming that it was decided that a surgical operation was her only chance of recovery, but the surgeon found that the disease had progressed so far that an operation was impossible and that her death would result in a few days at farthest.Miss Kellogg came with the Chaffee family from Iowa to this city in 1870. In her long residence in this city she became widely known and was loved by all who knew her. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian church and Sunday school, up to the time of her growing illness, and has been greatly missed there during her enforced absence. Her nearest relatives are her sister Mrs. Margaret Chaffee, Dr. J. B. and Frank M. Chaffee, nephews. She had other relatives in Philadelphia, her birth place. She was not a twin sister of Mrs. Chaffee as was currently reported. Her age was about 60 years. The funeral will be held at the First Presbyterian Church tomorrow afternoon. Rev Hutson Taylor conducted the services and burial.
