Professional Football Player. Charles Andrew Russell, a former NFL linebacker, had a career with the Pittsburgh Steelers that spanned over 12 years. He was a standout player for the Missouri Tigers before getting drafted into the NFL in 1963. Though he missed out on playing in the NFL Championship for the Chicago Bears during his rookie season, he still managed to make a significant impact on the field. After fulfilling ROTC commitments, he returned to the Steelers in 1966 and went on to appear in seven Pro Bowls and earn two Super Bowl rings. His other accomplishments included setting the NFL playoff record for a returned touchdown with a 93-yard return in 1975. He was named the Steelers' MVP in 1971 and was later inducted into the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor and the Pittsburgh Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers All-Time Team.
