Sports Broadcaster & Journalist. Best known for his announcing of collegiate and professional teams in Denver, Colorado. He was both a color analyst and play-by-play man on radio broadcasts for the Denver Broncos from 1971 until to 1996 and called three AFC Championship Games involving the Broncos during the John Elway era. He attended Louisiana State University and later received his bachelor's degree in Journalism. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army and during his service, he rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant while earning an Army Commendation Medal. After his discharge, he settled in Michigan where he called games for the Wolverines. After relocating to Denver in 1971, he began his lengthy association calling games for the Colorado University and first worked for a professional sports team, when he announced games for the Denver Rockets of the American Basketball Association. In addition, Zimmer covered the National College World Series and Olympic Game competition.
