Deceased Name: WEBB, MARTHA (MARTEE) WOOD- WARD WEBB, MARTHA (MARTEE) WOOD- WARD, died peacefully at home in Mountain Brook on February 10, 2000. Mrs. Webb was born to the late A. H. Woodward, Jr. and Annie Hill Jemison Woodward on February 20, 1907. Mr. Woodward was the owner of Woodward Iron Company and the Birmingham Barons baseball team. The Woodwards home on Altamont Road is now the official residence of the president of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is known as Woodward House. Mrs. Webb spent much of her life away from Birmingham. A 1925 graduate of Miss. Porters School in Farmington, Connecticut, she subsequently lived in New York, Mexico, England and Washington, D.C. as the wife of William E. Webb of the National Broadcasting Corporation and later the United States Diplomatic Corps. The Webbs were married in 1942 and had one child, William Woodward Webb of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Mrs. Webbs husband died in Palm Springs, California in 1981. Long a patron of the arts, Mrs. Webb was a member of the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Museum of Art and the New Era Club. She was also a member of the Mayflower Society. Mrs. Webb is survived by her son, William Woodward Webb, her sister, Anne Lundbeck of Mountain Brook; three grandchildren, William Wood- ward Webb, Jr., Jennifer Webb Crowder and Mary Lindsay Webb, all of Raleigh, North Carolina and countless friends. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb- ruary 19, 2000 at Elmwood Ceme- tery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martha Woodward Webb Foundation, 728 Shades Creek Parkway, Suite 130, Birming- ham, Alabama 35209. Johns Ridouts Southside Chapel direct- ing.
