Obituary: Rites for John S.Jemison to be conducted at graveside. Funeral services for John S.Jemison, 72, member of a pioneer Birmingham family, will beheld at Elmwood Cemetery at 4 p.m. today, the Rev. Lee Graham officiating. Ill for several months, Mr. Jemison died yesterday at his home, 2250 Highland Ave. Mr. Jemison was born in Tuscaloosa, and moved to Birmingham as a child in 1884. He was in the real estate and automobile business here for many years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Pockman Jemison; two sons, John S. Jemison Jr., Birmingham, and Leonard Jemison, Dallas, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Carroll Waterman, Mobile, and Mrs. J.A. Lucas, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. A.H. Woodward and Mrs. Lewis Morris, Birmingham; three brothers, Robert Jemison Jr., Sorsby Jemison and Elbert S.Jemison, all of Birmingham and several grandchildren. The family requested that no flowers be sent. Pall bears will be Robert Jemison III, William W. Jemison, Elbert W. Jemison Jr., Joseph Woodward II, A.H. Daughter, Helen Jemison Waterman, md John Henry van Aken. She died May 1978, buried Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama. The gravestone shows both Helen and John's wife Marilyn.
