Born in Brooklyn, Ms. Aagenas was brought to Castleton Corners as a child. She graduated from McKee Vocational High School, and during World War II she worked at a fireworks factory on Staten Island, making ammunition and explosives for the war effort.
Ms. Aagenas worked for American Express in Manhattan for more than thirty years, retiring in the 1980s.
She enjoyed traveling across the country and throughout Europe, and had also visited Hawaii.
Ms. Aagenas attended Castelton Hill Moravian Church, Castleton Corners.
Surviving are two sisters, Anna Foley and Jennie Aagenas.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners.
Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
