Mary Elizabeth Hopkins Armstrong Wright, born on 2 Feb 1837 in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co, Indiana, daughter of Almon Hopkins and Margaret Young Hopkins Taylor. After her father's death, she came with her mother to Texas in 1853. In 1855 Mary Elizabeth married Andrew Jackson Armstrong in Wise County, Texas. They had four children: Minerva Ann Armstrong Dotson, Margaret Ellen Armstrong Evans, Joseph Henry Armstrong, Isabelle Armstrong Lankford. Andrew J Armstrong died in the Civil War.
In 1871 Mary Elizabeth married William Wright in Denton County, Texas. They had three children: Joshua A Wright, James Wright, and Alice Mae Wright Rogers. William Wright died in Sherman, Grayson Co, Texas on 31 Jan 1905.
Mary Elizabeth Wright continued to live in Sherman, Grayson Co, Texas, in the household of her son, Joshua A Wright, along with son James and daughter Alice Mae, until she died on 29 Dec 1912 at the age of 75. She was buried the following day on the Wright lot in an unmarked grave.
