Joseph B. Hooker served in Company K of the 2nd Minnesota Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted at Fort Snelling in September 1861, was injured in January 1862 while serving at the battle at Mill Springs, Kentucky, and was discharged 26 April 1862. His current grave marker (pictured) incorrectly identifies him as a member of the 2nd Minnesota Cavalry. The Los Angeles National Cemetery is aware of the discrepancy and is researching his service for a possible replacement marker.
