"Raddick, David J. - died October 1, 1932 at the age of 90. Mr. Raddick was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He came to the United States when he was just 10. He entered the Civil War on the North with Co. B 5th Iowa Calvary and served from 1861-1865. He was reported to have been badly crippled by rheumatism contracted by exposure during rigorous campaigns in the war. Raddick married Olive E. Britton and they had five children. He brought his family to Ojai from Nebraska before the turn of the century and opened a pool hall. This was a temperance hall -no liquor was served. In 1916, Raddick was known as quite a chicken fancier. He raised and sold chickens at that time. He was buried here."
