William C. Clark, Charleroi Banker. Private funeral services for William Charles Clark, president of the First National Bank of Charleroi, will be conducted in his home, 231 Washington Avenue, Charleroi, Monday at 2 p. m. Mr. Clank died yesterday [Jan. 12, 1940] in Mercy Hospital, after a two years' illness. He was born in Dyce, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on December 22, 1865, and came to Pittsburgh when he was 20 years old. Fourteen years later, he moved to Charleroi and founded the dry goods firm of Kirk and Clark. At the time of his death, he was owner of the company. He was a director of the Charleroi Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the merchant's division of the organization; past president of the Charleroi Rotary Club; an elder of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi and a member of Charleroi Lodge, No. 615 F. & A.M. In 1924. Mr. Clark was appointed to fill the vacancy on the Charleroi Council and later was elected for one term.
He leaves two daughters. Ellen, of Charleroi; and Mrs. Glenn Kobernik, of Conneaut; a son, Jack Clark, of Charleroi; three sisters, Margaret and Mary Clark and Mrs. George Low, all of Scotland; two brothers, Graham, of Scotland, and Henry Clark, of Australia, and four grandchildren. His wife, Janet Kirk Clark, died Christmas Day, 1938. Burial will be in Monongahela Cemetery, Charleroi. Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph, Pittsburgh, PA, Sat., Jan. 13, 1940, Page 11.

He assumed presidency of the Charleroi Bank in the reorganization following the "Bank Holiday" at the beginning of the Roosevelt administration. The Daily Republican, Monongahela, PA, Fri., Jan. 12, 1940, p 1 and 5.
