John Walls Bucher, Retired Lewisburg Banker, Dies At 87. A retired Lewisburg banker, he died Monday afternoon in Mercer Sanatorium, Mercer, where he had been a patient for several years. He resided at 43 Market Street, Lewisburg. A native of Lewisburg, he was born June 18, 1867, the son of Joseph C. and Mary Ellen Walls Bucher. He served as cashier of the Lewisburg National Bank for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1929. A member of the First Presbyterian Church. Lewisburg, he was a trustee for more than half a century. At one time he was a majority stockholder in the Lewisburg Bridge Corporation, which was sold to the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was also a director of the bridge corporation. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Lewisburg Charity Lodge, Williamsport Consistory, Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre; Knights Templar, Sunbury, and Milton Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, the former Susan Dunlap; a daughter. Mrs. Alber Watson, Governor's Island, N. Y.; a sister, Mrs. Harry W. Chamberlin, Milton, and two grandsons. Services will be at 2:30 p. m. Thursday at the late residence, with his pastor, Rev. Peter J. Westra, officiating. Burial will be in Lewisburg Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
