Death removed from the ranks another honored veteran of the Civil War a well known and highly respected citizen of this community.
Joseph Barber Train, full of years and honors passed away at the Bard hospital after an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Train leaves a large family to mourn his loss including 6 children, 15 grandchildre and 7 great grand children.
Mr. Train had lived in this city since 1890 when he came here from Nebraska. He was born in Moriah, New York, November 1, 1838. He was married on March 12, 1860 at Shueyville, Wisconsin to Catharne Mahala Stout and the two lived a happy and prosperous life until August 25, 1887 when she passed away in Nebraska.
Mr. Train enlisted in an Illinois regiment when the Civil War broke out serving during the entire period for a time spent in the hospital after being wounded in battle.
Mr. Trains children are:

2. George Francis Train, Nebraska
3. Mrs. Cora Ballard of Hardy, Nebraska
4. Floyd William Train of Oxnard CA
5. Thomas A. Train of Oxnard CA
6. Charles Joseph Train of Ventura, Ca
The funeral was held under the auspices of the Cushing Post G. A. R. of which the deceased was a member.

"J. B. TRAIN, farmer and stock raiser, Section 34. P. O. Mission Creek {Pawnee Co., Nebraska}, was born and reard in Essex County, New York, and removed to Stephenson County, Illinois, where he was identified with farming until 1862, when he enlisted in Company G, Ninety-second Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and remained in active service until the Battle of Chickamauga, where he was wounded, and remained in the hospital until the close of the war, when he was honorably discharged and pensioned. In 1869, he came to Nebraska, and located here, where he has been actively connected with his present industry since. In 1860, he was married to Miss Catharine M. Stout, who was born in Pennsylvania and reared in Stephenson County, Illinois. They have a family of five sons and one daughter - John A., George F., Cora A., Thomas A., Willard F., and Charles J. Mr. Train has been an active worker in the development of the social life of his locality since coming here."
