Both Patty and Jim enjoyed people, especially family and children even more especially. She is survived by her three children, Connie McGowan of Sacramento, CA, James L McGowan of Tampa,FL and Timothy E. McGowan of Millerstown and grandchildren, Hallie, Drew (Kim), Blake, Ian, Samuel, Emily and Annelise. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; brother, Thomas Meloy and Sister, Opal Meloy.
Patty was a member of Eastern Star and the Perry Valley Presbyterian Church and former volunteer for the Newport Ambulance. She worked briefly for Newberry's in 1944, Snap on Pliers in 1945-46 and for Shifers in 1971-73. Her main priority was raising her children. "Wherever Daddy was, was home- and as long as we were together we were family."
Her unwavering love, and continual prayers for her family will be missed, but we know she is home with her Lord- and with her James.
Services will be held from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing on Sunday from 5-7 PM and funeral services on Monday at 10 AM. Burial will follow in the Wrights Church Cemetery, Millerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Newport Ambulance League, 30 South Third Street.Newport, PA 17074.
