Born Sept. 20, 1929, in Ridgewood, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (Burtis) Pilkington.
Joan was a brilliant woman and worked for CBS in New York City. She timed broadcasts before it was done electronically; she was responsible to get the actors off the set on time and to get the actors on set to get the next show started on time. She was also responsible for mapping out the scene on the set so the actors knew where to stand.
While working for CBS, she met her husband, Hugh Brannum, who was an actor best known as “Mr. Green Jeans” on the “Captain Kangaroo” television show.
Joan is survived by her sister, Marilyn Colburn of Provincetown, Mass.; her nephews, Peter Colburn and his wife, Rita, of Hendersonville, N.C., David Colburn and his wife, Lyndie, of Centerville, Mass., and Paul Colburn and his wife, Sheila, of Truro, Mass.; her niece, Kathy Blake and her husband, Alan, of Gilmanton, N.H.; her cousin, Juanita Burtis of New Jersey; and her dear friends, Rachel Lillis, Devon Stella and Linda Wilde.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Fifth St., Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, RR 13 Box 2138, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
