IRA CHAFFEE DIES MONDAY; RITES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for IRA E. CHAFFEE, 89, R4 Hastings, who died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Pennock Hospital, were to be held at 3 p.m. this Wednesday at the Leonard-Osgood Funeral Home with the Rev. George Elliott officiating with burial in Hastings Township Cemetery.

Mr. Chaffee had been hospitalized for 10 days prior to his death. He had been in ill health for the past three years.

He was born in Hastings Township on Oct. 23, 1875, the son of EDWARD and SUSAN (SAHOUP) CHAFFEE.

He attended the Quimby School and farmed all his life on the farm where he was born which is located on the Sager Road.

He was married to GRACE LEWIS of Hastings Township on March 14, 1910, in the Barryville Church parsonage.

He is survived by his wife, GRACE; five sons, EDWIN of R4 Hastings, RICHARD of R1 Nashville, HAROLD of Hastings, KEITH of R3 Hastings and CLARENCE of R1 Hastings; three daughters, MRS. WINSTON (ELEANOR) MERRICK of R4 Hastings, MRS. HARRY (MARY) MCCLURKIN of Hastings and MRS. LYNDEN (ILAH) NORRIS of R1 Dowling; 32 grandchildren, and 34 great granchildren.
