Los Angeles real estate pioneer and developer. Arriving in Los Angeles in 1888 he became active in local real estate ventures. He was President of the Los Angeles Realty Board in 1910, honorary President of the California Real Estate Board and was a director and vice president of the National Real Estate Board. The Hollingsworth Ranch was hundreds of acres and at one time he leased parts of his tract to Universal Studios, Famous Player Lasky and Mack Sennett for filming locations. Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills is now on this property. Forest Lawn Drive was once Hollingsworth Drive before the name was changed in 1950. He acquired land on which some of the city's skyscrapers now stand. He owned 300 acres at El Segundo and Sepulveda Blvds., had the Hollingsworth Building at 6th and Hill, he assembled property at 8th Street between Broadway and Hill where a May Co. stood, he located J.W.Robinson store, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Auditorium and was known in real estate circles as the father of 7th Street. He owned the 16000 acre Palos Verdes Ranch and owned buildings and property at Hollywood and Vine. He was a Mason, belonged to the Los Angeles Country Club, the Jonathan Club, Los Angeles Athletic Club, Bel-Air Bay Club, and was on the first Council of Regents and a Vice President of Forest Lawn Memorial-Park of Glendale, California.
