Blanche received a teaching degree from Southwest Texas State University. Over the years, she taught in several school districts, including Dotson (ending in 1907) and Sulphur Springs (1907 - 1914). After the death of W.E., she went back to East Texas State University around 1942 to renew her teaching certificate so that she could teach in Campbell. In the late 1930's or early 1940's, she was the President of the Physician's Wives auxilarry in Sulphur Springs for one year. While raising her children, they played many games in the evenings, as they did not have a television. They also made popcorn and candy. At one point in time, she had a job in Dallas with an orphan home. She also managed the rental property that had been acquired by W.E. prior to his death. Her hobbies included quilting, embroidery, and baking.
